Appointing to the job

The panel identify the preferred applicant after an analysis of all the information gathered during the recruitment process.

It's important that managers are able to offer post-selection feedback to unsuccessful candidates. This should be constructive and can be valuable for candidates who are keen to understand areas they need to focus on for future recruitment.

As a manager it is your responsibility to ensure employees are supported to carry out their work effectively and feel safe in the work environment. It is important that the successful candidate is given an adequate induction to their new role and the workplace on their first day.

Aboriginal employment enhances our workforce diversity and so improves the services we deliver. It helps us to better understand Aboriginal customers and communities and to develop and deliver better policies and programs. We need to grow and develop a talented and versatile Aboriginal workforce right across the sector, in a wide range of roles, and at all levels - from trainees to Department heads.
