Your first day in a new job, although exciting can also be a little bit daunting. As a major provider of health services across a range of varied settings, NSW Health employs over 170,000 people so it is natural as a new starter to feel a bit overwhelmed.

For whatever role you are starting in, NSW Health have programs and processes in place to help ease your transition into your new job and support you to thrive in your new work environment.

Make sure you have contact with your manager prior to your first day so you know where you need to go, what you need to bring with you, what time you should arrive and all those important things.

What to bring with you

Depending on where you will be working you may be required to bring things with you for your use - this may include a coffee/teacup, drink bottle, cutlery and crockery as these types of things are not generally catered for. You will be provided with somewhere to store your items.

You also need to bring your own food and drink. Hot and cold water is provided for your use and fridges are available.

Some workplaces will be located close to shops and other amenities for you to utilise. It is worth finding out prior to your first day the location and quality of any local shopping facilities.
